What’s sinking the dollar
Things do tend to go to hell all at once, so maybe it should be no surprise that the dollar tanked as the subprime mess was getting rapidly worse and stock markets were whipsawing, mostly downward. The dollar’s fate is especially worrisome because of its historic role as the world’s reserve currency and its obvious importance to the world’s largest economy. In today’s interconnected global markets the dollar’s movements are part cause, part effect - but on net it’s hard to see the dollar getting much stronger anytime soon.
